Wind howled past Ribbitzās ears as he twisted mid-air, his laser-eyed shades reflecting the eerie glow of the descending abyss. He flicked his cigar, embers spiraling upward before vanishing into the black.
Gorr bellowed, flipping through the air like a sack of bricks. āRibbitz! You got a plan, or we just fallinā forever?!ā
Ribbitz smirked. āAināt about the fall. Itās about how you land.ā
And thenāimpact.
The darkness ripped away as they crashed down, Ribbitz rolling effortlessly onto his feet while Gorr slammed into the ground with a grunt.
Silence.
Then, a slow, ancient groan echoed through the cavern.
Ribbitz stood, adjusting his jacket, his red laser eyes scanning the darkness. āYeahā¦ this aināt just no cave.ā
Gorr coughed, shaking dust from his tusks. āNahā¦ this a graveyard.ā
The torch flickered, revealing their surroundings. The walls stretched impossibly high, vanishing into shadows, lined with towering stone pillars carved into monstrous figures. Some were humanoid, othersā¦ something else.
And at the center?
A colossal black gate.
Sealed. Waiting. Alive.
Ribbitz exhaled, eyeing the markings across the stone. Not just symbols. Instructions.
A warning.
Gorr took a cautious step forward, his breath slow. āThis place was built to keep somethinā in.ā
The air shifted.
A presence. Not seen, but felt.
A whisper.
Noā¦ a breath.
Something was here with them. Watching. Waiting.
And it was about to make itself known.
