The passage yawned before them, a dark, gaping wound beneath the ruins. The air drifting up was thickāstale, untouched, waiting.
Ribbitz took a slow pull from his cigar, exhaling smoke into the abyss. No telling what was down there.
āLemme handle this,ā Gorr muttered, pulling a torch from his pack. A quick flick of flint, and fire roared to life, casting flickering shadows along the stone walls.
The tunnel stretched downward, rough-hewn and long forgotten. The markings along the walls were different from the arenaāolder, deeper, untouched by time. Symbols no one had seen in centuries.
Gorr held the torch high, its flame dancing against carvings of warriors, beasts, and something elseā¦ something unsettling.
Ribbitz squinted. āYo, that look likeā¦ a city?ā
The carvings told a storyānot just of battles, but of an entire underground world.
Gorr exhaled sharply. āAināt no tomb, Ribbitz. This is somethinā bigger.ā
The tunnel stretched further into the unknown, the echoes of their footsteps swallowed by the darkness ahead.
This wasnāt just some forgotten passage.
It was an entrance.
