Always appreciate feedback, but this chart is pretty much misinformation. As I was reading it I was confused as to why anyone would go out of their way to basically make an anti-DeSo tabloid piece, but then I saw it was @paulburke and I understood :)

DeSo is obviously permissionless, allowing anyone to run a node, and supporting more nodes today than most blockchains, including Polygon. Its consensus is proof of work like Bitcoin, only you can specify if you want to bias toward certain block producers via optional commandline flags when you run your node (that's the "trusted block producer" that this chart misunderstands and misrepresents). Honestly, I would say DeSo is *more* permissionless than most Proof of Stake systems, which require someone to be a millionaire in order to participate in consensus (vs requiring just a single GPU like DeSo).

It's wrong to say DeSo is not censorship-resistant. Again, it's like Bitcoin. If your post pays the txn fees it goes into the blockchain, end of story. I think his misunderstanding of the block producer mechanism makes him think it's not censorship resistant? There is a ParamUpdater key that can change usernames that we used to support the onboarding of high-profile people, but we've been public about this from day 1, and it's the only thing like that that exists (can't touch DESO balances, among other things). We don't even use it anymore, and it's being removed with the upgrade to Proof of Stake.

We don't support smart contracts because we think it's more effective to move computation off-chain for most things via non-custodial smart services. We've talked about that here, and many apps are proving this thesis 100% right:

Multiple apps supporting gated content are launching, including Pearl. On-chain access groups are launching in a few weeks, which will enable on-chain gated content and subscription models. Note that Lens's gated content is NOT on-chain like DeSo's...

Not sure about the daily posts number, but I think anyone who uses DeSo apps and then uses Lens apps understands that DeSo has way more *real* users. The numbers are also in-line with this (see chart attached).

On scaling, DeSo nodes can do 45k posts per second, and you can verify that with this code here. Not sure how he computed 30 tps...

On the number of apps, again I think if anyone wants to use the apps from other ecosystems they could decide for themselves which one has a stronger ecosystem.
