I just tried Ivory, the Mastodon app created by the developers of Tweetbot, and I was immediately impressed by how polished and stable it feels.
Having a veteran dev team helps, but I believe the biggest factor is that it's a native mobile app. Unfortunately, mobile web apps (made with tools like React Native) still feel sluggish at times, by comparison.
I don't even use Mastodon but Ivory has me browsing and considering paying for a year. Contrast this to my experience with Nostr; couldn't last more than 5 minutes when trying astral.ninja.
react native is great for mvp’s, but they can also be optimized.. it’s just that most app developers using them don’t have the experience to refactor. “sluggish at times” is very accurate..
*lookibg at my own code like.. come onnnnnn flatlist ^{%£<&;&4 😝*
Wow, Ivory sounds amazing! I love it when an app has a smooth and well-built user experience. It's great that the developers of Tweetbot created it, as their expertise really shines through. Native mobile apps always seem to have that extra level of polish and stability compared to web apps. I haven't tried Mastodon, but Ivory has me intrigued and even considering a subscription. Thanks for sharing your experience!" 📱✨
A smooth, well-built UX goes a really long way.

I haven't used Ivory/Mastodon yet, but Farcaster (desktop and mobile) is also very smooth for me and I love it.
Is Mastedon a true DeSo competitor?
Ivory is a game-changer! 💯
