Ok, finally rounded up all remaining questions that I don't think were answered elsewhere(and apologize if they were, feel free to skip).
Thanks to everyone on the @Vibehut call last night who helped distill some of these.
👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇
1) Is the 5% revenue share for a referral in perpetuity? It was clear the 10% was just of the signup bonus but since there was no timeframe for the rev share assuming it is in perpetuity without additional clarification.
2) Are referral codes launching on the 11th or only after the app launches? It would seem the 11th so everyone isn't disincentivized to invited people during the fair launch.
3) Willing to add any more details on the decreasing function of the discount after the first week? Even broadly like is it most similar to linear, stepwise, exponential decay, etc.?
4) Why no developer grant / dev incentive allocation? Leaving this to the DeSo foundation? You/Ed have mentioned the challenges of managing this but still seems like a strange omission for an ecosystem token launch but it the context of Focus being an app and DeSo the ecosystem would make sense.
5) Post2earn incentives dollar amounts mentioned seem relatively small in relation to other airdrops. I think just an example and maybe you can provide more context how these might adjust to the upside if reservation amount is large? We know how it would scale if fixed percentage but because there is some discretion with this there is a bit more uncertainty.
6) Will $FOCUS be swapped to pay txn fees so user really doesn't need any $DESO at all? I'm not asking this out of concern for $DESO demand, more about UX and txn volume increase from all the swapping. Follow-up, will $FOCUS be the currency of tips or diamonds?
7) Are the subscriptions / unlockable content using a new DeSo on chain primitive or only possible within Focus?
8) Paper states locked bonus tokens are issued & distributed at launch - do those sit in the same user wallet as the unlocked tokens? Will incentive locked tokens be issued & distributed right at time of earning? Meaning it would be easy to see a creators earnings in their wallet(even though locked)?
10) Is PoS launching before Focus and will staking DeSo(true staking - not reservations) be possible before Focus launch?
11) When reserving with other cryptos(BTC,ETH,SOL) will Heroswap fees be refunded if they refund the reservation? May be hard to do but just trying to understand the "risk-free" nature of this on a DESO basis if fees are lost on both directions that is a risk but could be somewhat known. Just need to manage expectations.
12) Will there be any manual review for social airdrop in edge cases? For example, someone has a huge podcast but it is only on Spotify and their other socials don't reflect that?
12) Final one - not specific to papers. Any IRL events planned for a Focus launch tour(even if later like Mesarri Mainnet)?
This really does look like BitClout 2.0 with much more experience, learnings and responsibility.
Excited to see the fervency in adoption ❤️❤️❤️
I love how the post came out right at midnight, haha. Happy New Year, @nader and the entire $DESO team and community!
I had the first read-through at 3:00 am last night, but I have been able to take a much deeper dive now over a morning cup of coffee.
I wanted to express some takeaways...
Aspects I was pleasantly surprised about:
- Focus's algorithm is based on wallet balances, transaction fees, etc.
- The paid reposts system. This doesn't exist on any social media platform currently. I am very curious how advertisers utilize this and respond.
- The paid messaging is brilliant and will work very well in the long run! This was a beautiful takeaway from OF and Patreon.
- The unlockable paid content and end-to-end encryption will undoubtedly perform very well. It's a proven billion-dollar model.
- 100% of all fees going back into burning $FOCUS. This is arguably the most essential part of this entire launch, creating the value of $FOCUS.
- The referral structures are very strong!
- "Floor bid token sales are burned" is an exciting concept. I don't quite understand how this will work, so I will seek more clarification.
Some questions/concerns:
1. can you reserve $FOCUS with creator coins during the reservation period? (I think I already know the answer is "no" to this, but just wanted to make sure)
2. I didn't see anything about video in the whitepaper. Will there be any video capabilities with $FOCUS?
3. What is the protection against a massive sell-off after removing the floor bid? (Because it's a no-brainer to keep $FOCUS during the initial two+ years where the floor price is guaranteed). Is the idea here for the platform to go so massive and have so few people sell because they feel safe with the floor price, and then once mass adoption kicks in and the floor bid is removed, it won't really matter?
4. Is the "Reservation Tax" 10%? (It wasn't mentioned in the spreadsheet)
5. You mentioned a problem with BitClout being "Reserved profiles that came with a coin..." was this just a mention rather than a change happening?
6. Can locked $FOCUS be used to buy creator coins?
7. Will you publicly release each platform's Bounty Hunter valuing algorithm?
Feels great to start the year off with some positive news, woke up this morning made a coffee and got right into the white paper and tokenomics.
I have 3 questions for the team:
How does Focus ensure the security and privacy of user data, especially considering the integration of cryptocurrency transactions and on-chain content storage?
Given the platform's emphasis on un-censored content and user autonomy, what measures are in place to prevent misuse or harmful content?
How is Focus planning to handle scalability issues, particularly in terms of blockchain transaction speeds and costs, as the user base grows?
Apologies,
I'm struggling to understand if with the launch of #Focus :
Will I have two distinct Creator Coins, one associated with my profile for use on Nodes running on $Deso and one specifically on #Focus, both attached to the same Profile/Wallet Address;
or, whether,
I will have only one Creator Coin with different uses, (and possibly distinct settings), on $Deso and on #Focus.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
