Meet Duonychus: Mongolia’s New Two-Clawed Dino Discovery
⏺ A new species of dinosaur, Duonychus tsogtbaatari, has been discovered in Mongolia’s Gobi Desert. This 260kg therizinosaur had two massive claws, not the usual three, and likely used them to grab plants or for protection.
⏺ Its claws were much larger than the bone underneath and had keratin sheaths, making them stronger—similar to human nails. This dinosaur is unrelated to T. rex, though both evolved similar hand structures separately.
