do you think username.deso would be useful?

when we mention our deso identity, we need to provide a link. this would be a node or app that will reliably and trustfully display your decentralized deso profile.

in the past, before the bitclout rebrand to deso, i was planning on offering bitclout.id to be used as a service for this purpose of having a consistant default url for your deso profile/identity.

i believe @tijn owns deso.id and could do something similar now.

but let's get back to the username.deso part.

similar to ENS .eth domains, DeSo could make use of .deso domains. not only is this good for marketing purposes, since so many are now familiar with blockchain domains and every chain seems to offer this (.sol, .tez, .eth etc) but it also would allow for wrapping multiple deso and non-deso usernames into one master record set in a structured and standard way.

.eth ENS names leverage a .link TLD (e.g. stet.eth.link) to resolve to websites if a record to point to one is added. this is for unsupported browsers etc. same could be done using the deso.id domain (stet.deso.id).

this casual proposal is to add onchain support and all other tech layers needed to make a .deso and .eth effectively equivalent in functionality.

similar to the new DAOcoin proposal, this idea would compliment that and be approached in the same way... by creating an enhanced profile, possibly in conjunction with another casual proposal for ProfileExtraData.
