# Vision - concept and broader objectives

Setu is built to make the user’s life simple. We help leverage the best that web3 has to offer without you having to go through the dirty details. Using Setu is as simple as signing up and giving us permission to manage your presence across social media platforms. 

Setu builds automations between disconnected pieces of social media. This helps make social media more composable and manageable through a single window solution like Setu. Our deeper objective is to reduce friction for creators.


# Product Need

Newer monetisation channels such as social tokens, NFTs, tipping have immense potential. Yet users in general and creators in particular remain fixated on corporate social media. This could be due to two reasons: 

1. Network debt - users have a network already well developed which is hard to move 
2. Content debt - users have a huge backlog of content that they have created over the years 


# Objectives

1. Our first challenge is to make social media posts portable from corporate social media. All of this content is legally “owned” by these platforms. While it is the creators whose blood, sweat and tears have gone into making this content. The ownership must be that of the creators. 

- Corporate social media is designed in a way to not allow users to own their own content. Or at least they do a good job of making it confusing. For creators to own their content, it must be stored in a decentralized database. Setu allows creators to make backups of their entire content library on blockchain. This has dual benefits as it also enriches the decentralised social media ecosystem with proven viral content. 

2. The next challenge is to move the community. Currently all of our social graphs live on corporate platforms. For decentralized social media to be successful, we must incentivise the social graph to move as well. This is how we solve network debt. 

3. Multiply Surface Area - Twitter does 280 letter messages. Medium does long form blog posts. YouTube does 9:16 video. TikTok does 16:9 video. Facebook does everything. A creator must also do everything, or at least have other people/tools supporting them that do this. 

- With the advances in machine learning, it is now possible to repurpose content from one channel to another. Imagine shooting 1 hour episode of a podcast and automatically generating 20 tiktoks, 100 tweets, 3 blog posts and all the other good stuff. Pretty cool? We know.  


# How do we make money? 

Our monetisation strategy is also based on the deeper vision of reducing friction for creators. We charge a small subscription fee if you choose to use any of our real time automations. 

If you choose to use the option to move all your content in one shot, then we charge on a per transaction basis.  


# Supporting the DeSo Movement

Setu’s success is inextricably linked to the success of the DeSo protocol. Therefore we are investing heavily into positive sum actions for the whole ecosystem. 

We want to make it easy for people to understand and use decentralized social media. To that effect, we have created several explainer blogs, twitter threads.

Setu has also invested heavily into incentivizing people to use the DeSo protocol. We have run several giveaways to reward people who post on the platform. 

Ultimately Setu helps the entire DeSo ecosystem in 3 ways:   
1. Reduces friction for content creators to move into DeSo 🤝  
2. Imports proven viral content into the blockchain increasing engagement 📈  
3. Makes the benefits of DeSo more approachable to creators 💲
