DeSo is GROWING again!
The DeSo GraphQL upgrade allows you to run arbitrary SQL against a DeSo node's data. Here's a cool spreadsheet we just made with historical DAUs, MAUs, and transactions:

Some things I notice:
* Clear organic increase in daily active users over the past few months.
* Clear organic increase in monthly active users.
* Clear organic increase in number of transactions per day.
* During peak BitClout mania, we were only averaging ~20k DAU. Imagine how much crazier things will be if Focus can break 100k+ DAU this cycle.
The GraphQL upgrade enables queries like this, but it also allows developers to build apps much more easily, and allows DeSo to integrate into platforms like Dune Analytics.
We'll be sharing our node's Postgres instance for anyone to query once we've set up some rate limits on it. Can't wait to see what people do with this amazing new capability!

Been reviewing *a lot* of feedback on Focus. It's so amazing how this community has come together to help us build this thing. I really can't describe how grateful I am to everyone who put their time and energy into making this the best launch it can be.
I wanted to call out some specific people who wrote thoughtful pieces, and give my thoughts on them.
@Krassenstein many great posts from you guys, and a video as well. My biggest takeaways are as follows:
1. Pursuing exclusivity with Post to Earn is wrong. Others have echoed this and I agree. Instead, we should incentivize posting about Focus on other platforms. It sounds like requiring a pinned post would be sufficient in that case, but we could also require posting a focus.xyz link once a week (eg linking to a post on Focus). Curious if you have other thoughts on how to get the best "bang for our buck" for our Post to Earn.
2. We will definitely do a Space, maybe when we launch the reservation flow. I think it will be a lot of fun, and would love for you guys to join or even host if you're up for it!
3. You mentioned giving more Focus to people who have been on DeSo, and we are planning to do this. In particular, we plan on supporting a Join to Earn category that is specific to DeSo, so that people who have been meaningfully active fand that analyzes your or a long time get a reward as well.

My takeaways:
1. Be very clear about the 5% rev share. We will for sure.
2. Consider spreading the rewards more evenly. I think we can adjust the schedule to achieve this, and the proposed schedule was pretty good as well.
3. Again don't reward for exclusivity, echoing Krassenstein bros.
4. What happens if someone deletes a paid repost after taking the money? We thought about this, and we had two layers of preventing it:
- The first is that it shows up in their stats. Before making an offer you can see things like someone's "number of impressions per promotion" and even "view-wealth per promotion," which factors in the wallet balances of everyone who viewed their post. If they delete a repost, it will lower their stats accordingly so that their future offers will suffer.
- But more bullet-proof, and which we're also going to launch with, is just holding the funds for a day, and verifying the repost is still up before they can claim. I should edit the WP to indicate that this hold is there.
- Also just to add: We also considered allowing creators to charge "per impression" rather than per repost. This is arguably more efficient, since it aligns the advertiser with the creator better. But we felt it was too much "mental overhead" for the creator in the short-term. Still, nothing stops us from iterating in this direction over time. We just start with simplest first.
5. Mentioned we should give unlocked money to creators. We've noodled on this quite a bit. I think it could make sense to give a small amount, e.g. 1%, of each person's bonus in unlocked coins. But we have to be careful not to give too much or else it will result in dump potentially. We want to give enough to give them a "taste" of liquidity but not so much that they aren't aligned anymore.

Some takeaways and thoughts:
1. App is very "busy." We discussed this a lot internally, and discussed with creators as well, and we came to the conclusion that it's OK for the app to have a lot of "knobs" if 1. the onboarding is extremely straightforward and 2. the knobs are straightforward at an individual level. And I think you'll see this when we launch the demo of the app. Creators and consumers really just want *value* from their platform, and they're willing to put up with some business to get it. For example, it's better to support someone's use-case with an extra click than to not support it at all. BitClout was simple, yes, but it was so simple that people didn't have the features they needed to get long-term value out of the platform.
2. 1 year lockup is too aggressive, echoing RG. Our best solution to this so far is to have a very small percentage like 1% unlocked to give them a taste of liquidity. More than this feels too dilutive too early, and may make us give less away in rewards, which doesn't seem worth it. In addition, we were thinking that if it's trading on Openfund then people will know it's a real thing, even if their tokens are locked.
3. Moving on from BitClout branding. Yes this was a much-debated thing as well. Ultimately, we decided that while BitClout appealed to OG community, some people were turned off by it and we felt it's better to optimize for getting as many people as possible to "flip" to our side than to cater to OG nostalgia. It was a very difficult decision though, and we didn't make it lightly!

It's mentioned in the WP in the "Splitting Fees with Creators" that it's *at least* one year after time of referral, but after that it's up to the discretion of the dev team. We'll make this more clear when we launch.
> 2) Are referral codes launching on the 11th or only after the app launches? It would seem the 11th so everyone isn't disincentivized to invite people during the fair launch.
No, only when the app launches. But referring someone to DeSo now won't affect the referral mechanics! I've seen this misconception elsewhere and just want to correct it. Even if someone is already on DeSo, if they join Focus from your referral link with an *existing* DeSo wallet, you'll still get 10% of their Join to Earn and 5% of their Focus revenue. Lmk if this doesn't make sense.
> 3) Willing to add any more details on the decreasing function of the discount after the first week? Even broadly like is it most similar to linear, stepwise, exponential decay, etc.?
More linear. The only reason it's not fully concrete yet is because we don't have a date set for app launch. But it'll be something like "a fixed % per week up until app launch." We're not trying to make it super aggressive, more like a gentle nudge to be early.
> 4) Why no developer grant / dev incentive allocation? Leaving this to the DeSo foundation? You/Ed have mentioned the challenges of managing this but still seems like a strange omission for an ecosystem token launch but it the context of Focus being an app and DeSo the ecosystem would make sense.
I'm not sure what you mean here. Do you mean allocating $FOCUS tokens to give to devs building other products? We see Focus more as an app, albeit a very significant one, with DeSo being the underlying platform. So it would be the DeSo team's role to incentivize more building. That said, we feel the best way to get strong devs building on DeSo is to draw a lot of users/wallets with an app like Focus.
> 5) Post2earn incentives dollar amounts mentioned seem relatively small in relation to other airdrops. I think just an example and maybe you can provide more context how these might adjust to the upside if reservation amount is large? We know how it would scale if fixed percentage but because there is some discretion with this there is a bit more uncertainty.
Good point. We can add more examples of how much more we can spend as Focus grows. That said, our goal isn't to give away lots of money on incentives indiscriminately. Instead, we're more of a "zero based budgeting" approach where we consider how much activity we want to incentivize, and then consider the minimum-cost way to do that. If that results in a much more efficient airdrop than other platforms, that's a good thing in our view, and means more value for token-holders. In contrast, I think other protocols over-dilute because they start with an amount they want to give away and work backwards from that.
> 6) Will $FOCUS be swapped to pay txn fees so user really doesn't need any $DESO at all? I'm not asking this out of concern for $DESO demand, more about UX and txn volume increase from all the swapping. Follow-up, will $FOCUS be the currency of tips or diamonds?
We're planning to have all fees paid in DESO. That said, HeroSwap will support a very simple FOCUS<>DESO conversion at any time so it shouldn't be an issue. The Focus wallet has FOCUS, DESO, and USDC as options for both payment and conversion. Attaching an exclusive screenshot for you.

Yes to all of those questions. Locked tokens are distributed to the same wallet, as are incentive tokens. Earnings will be public, and we will even have an earnings explorer that lets you see which creators are earning the most and what activities are the most profitable.

Yes PoS is launching right before Focus, and with it true staking. Users will have to choose how much to allocate between staking and Focus.

When you reserve, you choose a reservation currency. If you choose DESO, as is recommended, your ETH/BTC/SOL/whatever is converted to DESO on-the-spot at the time of reservation. Your subsequent refund would then be DESO, which you could convert back to BTC/ETH/SOL using HeroSwap.
> 12) Will there be any manual review for social airdrop in edge cases? For example, someone has a huge podcast but it is only on Spotify and their other socials don't reflect that?
Yes, it will all have a manual review step, and we will be able to set bounties on people manually. In that case, we would need to be aware of them and manually set a bounty.
