Nursery rhymes are a refreshing way to begin learning a language. My first year teaching in 2002 was at a middle school in Harbin. On my departure day they taught me this one:

天空有一只鹅 tiān kōng yǒu yì zhī é
地上有一只鹅 de shàng yǒu yì zhī é
鹅跳，跳鹅 é bang é tiào
鹅追鹅 é zhuī é

In the sky is a goose
On the ground is a goose
Goose jump, goose dance
Goose chase goose
