The recent Lex podcast with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI is a great bit of insight into GPT4. I notice that Altman refers to it as an early AGI. And also despite clearly knowing better, both Lex and Altman can’t help but anthropromorphisize it.
It’s also stunning that humans create this thing through training and evaluation - we know the math and invent the algorithms, but there remains a mystery as to how, exactly, it works as it does.
