For the first time in the past few years, Russians want to hold the "Immortal Regiment" march in Washington.

They claim it will be dedicated to the 80th anniversary since the end of the "Great Patriotic War"*

The march is planned for May 3, according to the booklet of the initiative group of "Russians in Washington", distributed by the organizers among Russian-speaking groups in the United States.

The booklet says that the Russians "will march with a band, songs and portraits of their heroes." The organizers decorated the booklet with symbols of the USSR and the St. George ribbon.

Although the event is presented as a memorial one and outside of politics, the Eternal Regiment events are part of Russia's propaganda campaigns and are used to spread Russia's lies. These marches are sanctioned by Russian authorities and used to promote Russian narratives.

*The Great Patriotic War is the Russian version of WWII that starts in June of 1941 when Hitler's army attacked the USSR and ends on May 9, 1945. The myth of the "Great Patriotic War" is very strong in Russia and is one of the pillars of its today's ideology

Lavrov called EU warnings against the participation of European leaders attending the May 9 Victory Parade in Moscow a "revival of European Nazism".

Russia's rhetoric towards Europe is becoming increasingly more hostile and aggressive.

Lavrov said Russia will not "put up" with the "European Nazism" and will do its best "to keep this ideology from raising its head, to destroy it once and for all, and to make sure that Europe returns to its values."

This is a direct threat from Russia, and it should be taken seriously.
