German Intelligence Believed Covid Likely Came from a Lab
⏺ According to German media, the country’s foreign intelligence service (BND) believed there was an 80-90% chance that Covid-19 accidentally leaked from a Chinese lab. The assessment, conducted in 2020 but never published, suggested the Wuhan Institute of Virology was conducting experiments that made viruses more transmissible to humans.
⏺ While China has dismissed these claims, insisting that the origins should be determined by scientists, the lab-leak theory has gained traction among intelligence agencies. The BND’s findings were reportedly shared with the CIA in 2023.
