@paulmp lists the biggest problem on DESO Nodes today. I've been saying this since May 2021 (Can produce the posts if anyone doubts it).
Who is fixing this? Should we collaborate and do this sooner? What are your ideas and suggestions for doing so?

@Overclout - They are implementing hashtags, but they have other more basic pieces that they are still fixing. What I have heard is a March launch?

@Gemstori is the idea generator that hopefully gets picked up by the others. Right now, it's more a browse node, would love for it to become a transacting node to start with.
@OpenProsper also promoted hashtags recently. But, they are obviously only a discovery app. We need hashtags integrated into the node to start with.
What are the other ideas that you have?

Btw. this idea would bring more engagement possibilities to DeSo (in it's own niche, probably not for everyone).
Current issue with lack of engagement is too small user base. Two things: build something that could engage people and keep retention high and get new users. Getting new users without keeping them has no sense. we saw that already with referral program.
We can't flip a switch and make better retention higher on legacy Apps - market is saying to us that it doesn't work. We need complete different/new way of engagement. Agree 💯. My friend predicted back in May that in a couple of months then BitClout will become a small circle of users talking only about the platform and it will be very hard to overcome that and welcome new people (tribalism).
That’s why I’m a big proponent of communities. Because right now we have only one - DeSo community. It could be extremely hard to grow out of that.
I’m happy to write about different topics on DeSo (dev, crypto, travel, business, marketing and more) but I don’t feel comfortable sharing it on my profile right now. It would be much easier if I could write about it in communities that are interested in those topics.
I know that some projects are working on that, but I feel it needs to be a native on-chain feature to make it work and could be build upon.
Right now there is almost no point for a new person to join, but imagine someone interested in photography and there is a native community for that where they could engage immediately.
I’m happy to get info about interesting things (and give diamonds and engage) in dev stuff, crypto, NFTs, travel directly on DeSo but there is nothing like that on DeSo or it’s very hard to curate.

Also, did you notice how easy it is to "mint" a community on there?!

That chain struggled with user retention until Communities launched.
Early adopters post too much about Blockchain and about the platform itself for it to be engaging for the average social media user. If they can join a community, that changes. Imagine if Reddit was only one feed!
