We do own something that big tech and government has tried and failed for millennia to create and capitalize on: Culture.
Who could have predicted Punks or BAYC or Artblocks?
Who could have predicted BTC would ignore China?
And that gives people real power. Power to grow and create and be human.
In hindsight, it was inevitable.

Unpopular opinion: the trajectory the world is on leads to the metaverae being wholly centralized.
Big tech and government is too big and too powerful to overcome in a far-reaching, permanent way.
What does that mean?
Less democratized control over the direction of the metaverse. Less privacy. Less equity.
